Tips for Tourists
Getting Tattooed in Las Vegas
Plan Around Your Trip
Vegas tattoos are fun—but timing matters. Avoid booking your tattoo right before flights, pool days, or long nights out. Swelling, soreness, and aftercare all need downtime.
Bring Valid Government ID
Las Vegas tattoo studios strictly enforce ID requirements. Make sure you bring a valid government-issued ID—no photos or expired documents.
Stay Hydrated
The desert climate can sneak up on you. Drink plenty of water before and after your tattoo to help with pain tolerance, healing, and overall comfort.
Eat Before Your Session
Always eat a solid meal before your tattoo appointment. This helps prevent dizziness, nausea, or fatigue—especially important if you’ve been walking the Strip all day.
Book Ahead When Possible
Vegas studios can book quickly, especially on weekends and holidays. If you want a specific artist or larger piece, schedule in advance rather than relying on walk-in availability.
Avoid Alcohol Before Your Appointment
Even though you’re in Vegas, do not drink alcohol before getting tattooed. Alcohol thins the blood, increases bleeding, and can affect how your tattoo heals. Most artists will refuse service if you appear intoxicated.
Think About Placement
Vegas weather is hot, and many tourists plan pool time. Choose placement carefully—fresh tattoos should not be submerged in pools, hot tubs, or exposed to direct sun for at least 2–3 weeks.
Wear Comfortable Clothing
Choose clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area and won’t rub against fresh ink. Loose, breathable fabrics are best—especially in warm weather.
Plan for Aftercare While Traveling
Bring or purchase aftercare supplies before leaving town. If you’re flying soon after, protect the tattoo from friction, tight clothing, and airport germs.
Remember: Quality Over Souvenir
A tattoo lasts forever—Vegas memories don’t. Don’t rush your decision just because you’re on vacation. Take the time to choose a design you’ll love long after the trip ends.
